    • Distance 34.9 Km
    • Driving time 50 Minute
Checheng in the 1960s served as the main distribution center of Nantou’s timber, leading to its prosperity. The Shuili and Checheng areas were even nicknamed “little Taipei.” The earliest Checheng station was completed in 1921, serving as the last station of the Jiji Line. It was the earliest means of transporting supplies. Later on, as highways became more advanced and common, Checheng station started to decline.

The renovated log station emits a retro air. When standing on the lookout over Chumuchi, you can see the surrounding mountains.

Since Checheng is situated on a lower terrain with a vast area of backland, cane sugar exported from Puli was loaded onto vehicles for delivery in Checheng. Since hundreds of push cars were often parked here, some called the place “Car Park (Checheng)” in Taiwanese. As a result, it received its name “Checheng.”
